Programme Overview

Youth to Work is the flagship employability programme within Futuremakers by
Standard Chartered Foundation, the Bank’s global initiative to tackle
inequality and promote greater economic inclusion for young people in local
communities. Futuremakers programmes focus on three key areas Education
(imparting basic life skills), Employability and Entrepreneurship.

How will Youth to Work Benefit My Enterprise

> Enterprises partner and receive on-site free business development, growth and resilience support co-created and delivered by the Junior Associates over 4 months using tools tried and tested with over 1,000 enterprises.
> Junior Associates are supported through this process by receiving accredited business management training from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), enabling them to apply this knowledge to support your enterprise.
> Enterprises are supported as they grow their peer-networks and in strengthening their ecosystem
> Enhancing the skills of enterprise staff.
> Access to free senior mentors from Zambia and the UK to provide expert input.
> Support to enterprise leaders to enable them to identify personal barriers and strengths to growing their company and maintain momentum and motivation to improve.

What will the Junior Associate do in the enterprise

Conduct enterprise analysis – Junior Associates will use an enterprise
workbook with internal and external environment analysis tools. These will be
to evaluate key enterprise areas such as resilience in the context of
Covid-19, leadership, the organisation and staff, the product/service, sales
and marketing, legal and IT, financial management, organisation risk profile
and investment readiness. This will be done with an aim of understanding the
business overall performance within its operating environment.

Make recommendations – Basing on the results from the analysis, the Junior
Associates will make recommendations to the enterprise to capitalise on its
strengths and curb the identified weaknesses in with an aim to optimise
performance and support business growth.

Implement recommendations – the Junior Associates co-create and implement the
short-term recommendations in collaboration with the key staff within the
enterprise.

What value will the Junior Associates add

By the end of the program, each participating company will have

> clear digital records of their financial and operational performance and their progress in organisational development
> strategic plan for ongoing improvements and business development, which also has a focus on resilience in a post-Covid environment
> a comprehensive data room
> better connectivity between up and down stream relationships within the enterprise.

This will mean that participating enterprises will have clear strategies to

term growth and success.
