Young women's Christian Association

Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Zambia is a Christian, Membership,
Non-partisan, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to the empowerment
of the community (especially women, youth and children) to contribute to the
attainment of a just society through rights- based approaches and sustainable
interventions. The organisation’s works aims at contributing towards the
implementation of National plans and policies such as the Seventh National
Development Plan, National AIDS Strategic Framework, vision 2030 etc. and also
the World YWCA Vision which states that “By 2035, 100 million young women and
girls transform power structures to create justice, gender equality and a
world without violence and war; leading a sustainable YWCA movement, inclusive
of all women.”

YWCA with funding support from Project Concern Zambia (PCZ) will be
implementing the USAID Empowered Youth Program II (EYP II). The overall goal
of the project is to mitigate the impact of HIV and improve the health and
wellbeing of Vulnerable Children and Adolescents (VCA) through the deliver of
high-impact, evidence-informed, and age-appropriate interventions customized
for each VCA sub-population using a family-centered approach .The EYP II
innovative approach is aimed at improving resilience and health outcomes among
vulnerable children and adolescents (VCA) via a sustained, locally-led
response to comprehensive VCA service delivery at the household, community and
facility level in Southern and Central Provinces. The project will be
implemented in 14 districts as follows; Chibombo, Chisamba, Kabwe, Kapiri-
Mposhi, Mkushi and Mumbwa in Central Province as well as Chikankata, Choma,
Kalomo, Livingstone, Mazabuka, Monze, Namwala and Sinazongwe in Southern
Province.

The YWCA seeks to employ qualified staff in the following positions;

DISTRICT COORDINATORS x 14 Positions

RESPONSIBILITIES

> The District Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of all field activities and ensure direct liaison with Ministries of Health, Community Development, local health facilities and other partners.
> S/he will have strong expertise in adolescent sexual reproductive health, HIV, VCA/OVC programming and will work closely with field volunteers, line ministries and other partners implementing VCA programmes.
> S/he will also be responsible for providing technical support to field volunteers and partner staff to strengthen their capacity for planning and implementation of field activities that ensure the Placement of the VCA client, family and/or caregiver at the center of VCA/AGYW, parents, families and health and social care providers, (2) empowers clients and service providers to identify and mobilize available assets and (3) builds dignity and trust.

Specific duties

> Oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of
> Strengthen the capacity of community volunteers under His/her care
> Work with the Data Intern Clerks to oversee implementation of the field level M&E processes and ensure timely data collection, entry, analysis and reporting at district level.
> Facilitate day to day activities of the Case workers and Mentors
> Ensure compliance with YWCA and donor policies, criteria and procedures with respect to project implementation
> Fielding and exploring problematic issues arising from project activities; conferring with project stakeholders and providing direct advocacy, training, mentoring and assistance as required
> Representation of the Project at district foras such as District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC), District HIV AIDS Committee (DHAC) Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Committees and any other relevant district meetings on delivery of OVC comprehensive services
> Facilitate and participate in project review meetings with field volunteers and partners at district level

Qualifications and Experience-

> A Diploma in Development Studies/Social work / Public Health / Gender Studies or other Social Sciences from a recognized college/university with strong expertise OVC/VCA programming with a minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar position. A Bachelor’s Degree will be an added advantage
> Knowledge and demonstrated experience in implementing and/or delivery of VCA/OVC, HIV, adolescent sexual and reproductive health and economic empowerment related activities.
> Proven experience with practical and impactful gender equity and women’s/girls empowerment approaches to development and community action.
Added advantages include;

> Experience working with communities
> Experience working in an international non-governmental organisation (USAID funded)
> Good facilitation and participatory methodology skills
> Computer literate, including word processing and excel/spreadsheets
> Experience in People management supervision
> Ability to multi task, Strong Analytical and report writing skills.
> Honest and sober disposition;
> Fluency in English (both written and oral);
> Knowledge of predominant Zambian languages in Central and Southern provinces
> Women are particularly encouraged to apply
