Project Overview

The USAID-funded Zambia Community HIV Prevention Project (Z-CHPP) supports the
Government of Zambia to reduce new HIV infections through increased adoption
of high impact HIV services and protective behaviors among at-risk
populations, using evidence-based and locally owned solutions and in close
partnership with a range of local Zambian organizations and institutions.

Position Summary*>
The HIV Prevention Advisor will provide technical leadership in the delivery
of biomedical interventions and services. S/he will lead the design and
implementation of evidence-based HIV prevention interventions. The HPA will
also collaboratively be responsible for supervising HIV Prevention Technical
Officers in providing technical support to Z-CHPP (including DREAMS)
implementing sub-partners and stakeholders in assigned district(s). In
addition, s/he will contribute towards strengthening of existing biomedical,
behavioral and structural HIV prevention interventions for the Z-CHPP

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

> Provide technical leadership in designing and implementation of targeted and evidence-based HIV prevention strategies and interventions such as index testing Services (SEIT), condom promotion and distribution, FP, PrEP and HIVST.
> Support HTOs to assist sub-partners to build technical skills in HIV prevention, as well as strengthening organizational capacity to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of HIV prevention services.
> Support HTOs to assist the sub-partners in planning the implementation of HIV prevention services as per the approved work plans and budgets.
> Provide ongoing support to HTOs in monitoring and reporting of HIV prevention activities to USAID and other relevant stakeholders.
> Support and monitor delivery of HIV prevention technical assistance for the DREAMS biomedical activities and the technical team on the ground.
> Develop, share and implement biomedical SOPs.
> Ensure availability of biomedical commodities such as condoms, HIV test kits and HIVST kits all the time.
> Produce quality quarterly reports on the project’s HIV prevention activities performance.
> Conduct capacity building trainings on HIV prevention approaches and up to date prevention packages.
> Remain informed on current programs and emerging issues in the field of HIV prevention and development related issues including COVID-19.
> Represent the project /organization in high level technical/program implementation meetings with donor, implementing partners and GRZ.
> Perform any other HIV prevention duties as assigned by the supervisor

Educational and Experience required

> Dynamic and motivated individual with significant understanding of HIV and AIDS in Zambia.
> Familiarity with Zambian public health sector system, NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.
> Experience in implementation of HIV prevention interventions as well as sexual and reproductive health services in Zambia.
> Experience in project development, proven experience in the planning and facilitation of training.
> Experience developing collaborative relationships and liaising with government officials and community leaders.
> Post graduate qualification in health-related field with at least 5-7 years.
> Ability to use standard computer and software applications.
> Good interpersonal and relationship-building competencies coupled with strong written and verbal communication and computer skills.
