APPOINTMENT

Appointed Under Mining Regulations 204(1) by the Mine Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To assist the Manager in the control, supervision and direction of the mine as
outlined in the Mining Regulations & Explosives Regulations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements,
policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety,
environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources and any other
regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role
and responsibilities of the function.

> Assist Mine Manager in the control, supervision and direction of the mine in enforcing all regulations outlined in the Mining & Explosives Regulations handbooks and industry best practices.
> Understand production and implement cost targets in line with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that corresponds with the yearly production/development target
> Provide input and guidance on the mining operational plan and ensure that at least 2 faces for production are ready every month.
> Responsible for the guidance and training of mining staff to improve efficiency of mining operations including drilling, basting and development processes
> Play a key role in driving continuous improvement within the mining development section.
> Develop continuous improvement strategies communicate and apply accordingly
> Provide solid leadership and direction to the development superintendents, drill and blast and to achieve quarterly and annual development targets.
> Identify specific areas for cost improvement and ensure the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains
> Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mine by ensuring strict adherence to procedures and signing of log books.
> Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
> Provide input in the preparation and submission of statutory reports to the Ministry of Mines and other relevant ministries.
> Perform other duties as directed by the Mine Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

> Degree in Mining Engineering from recognized institution

EXPERIENCE

> A minimum of 5 – 10 years’ in the Emerald Mining Industry

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

> Exposure to dust
> Driving
> Occasional travel
