Eligibility criteria Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals
of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task Within delegated authority, the Nurse at this level will
be responsible for the following duties:

> Clinical Duties:
> Respond to emergency calls and assists Medical Officer;
> Ensure effective liaison between patient and private doctor, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate, documents case findings;
> Assist Medical Officer in the management, organization and coordination of the fever clinic, in-cluding isolation ward, etc at the duty station;
> Assist the Medical Officer in the follow up and tracking of positive cases and close contacts;
> Perform point of care diagnostic and screening tests;
> Perform clinical assessment of patients visiting the walk-in clinic; provides care/advice accordingly or facilitates referral to the UN Medical Officer or to an outside physician, as indicated;
> Ensure preparedness of staff travelling on missions or reassignments, including administration of appropriate vaccine, instructions on malaria prophylaxis and other travel-related ailments;
> Assist in providing health education and health promotion programs; participates in work environment assessment with special emphasis to the prophylaxis of the relevant diseases of the outbreak.
> Medical Administrative Duties:
> Assist UN Clinic Principal Nurse in all her/his activities as required;
> In the UN Clinics administered by UNDP and Regional Commission acts as UN Clinic Principal Nurse ;
> Ensure that medical instruments are properly sterilized;
> Ensure proper filing of medical and other records;
> Evaluate, orders and maintains an efficient inventory and stock control of medica-tions/vaccines and other medical supplies and equipment.
> Supervisory Duties:
> Assume all supervisory and medical administrative duties of the UN Clinic Principal Nurse in her absence.
> General:
> Perform other related duties as required.

Work implies frequent interaction with the following:

> Staff across the Organization;
> Personnel in office of Staff Counsellor;
> Security officers;
> Physicians and nurses outside the UN;
> Representatives of pharmaceutical/medical supply companies;
> Delegates and NGO Representatives;
> Visitors;
> Insurance Providers;
> Hospitals.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level: Technical/Vocational diploma

Education – Additional Comments:

> Registered Professional Nurse with a high school certificate and is a graduate of either an accredited baccalaureate nursing programme or an accredited diploma programme (3 years). National registration with the General Nursing Council of Zambia and a valid practicing license are required.

Required experience: 84 Months

Experience remark:

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible clinical experience in
one of the areas of medicine. UN field experience is highly desirable.
Previous experience in humanitarian crisis and infectious diseases is highly
desirable. Proven experience of a minimum of six month at an Intensive Care
Unit in the past 5 years is highly desirable.

Language skills:

> English(Mandatory), Level – Fluent

Area of expertise: General human medicine (with clinical experience)

Area of expertise details:

> Relevant clinical experience in one of the areas of medicine.

Driving license: No
