Project Summary

CRS Zambia under the Catholic Care for Children project in collaboration with
the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services is currently
coordinating a GHR foundation funded Children in Families (CIF+) technical
working group to promote family care for children in Zambia. As part of their
focus, the technical working group aims to provide the Government of the
Republic of Zambia’s Ministry of Community Development and Social Services
(MCDSS) evidence-based information to inform an implementation plan for the
Alternative Care and Reintegration Guidelines (ACRGs) through the development
a pilot concept model for more effective case management to prevent family-
child separation and reintegrate children already separated into appropriate
family-based care.

Under this approach, CIF partners will purposefully and strategically
integrate their efforts based on individual partner strengths into a single,
complementary silo of work. To demonstrate an evidence based multi-stakeholder
approach of transition institutionalized children into family care options,
the working group will identify and reintegrate 81 children living in child
care facilities in Lusaka district in line with the government endorsed case
management tools and Alternative Care and Reintegration Guidelines

Job Summary

The project officer will work with other project staff on the CCC project for
a period of 6 months to develop work plans, execute planned activities, and
generally prioritize activities that engage key actors in promoting family
based care for children separated from their families or at risk of
separation. Further the project officer will provide support towards
implementation of the Zambia Association of Sisterhoods Capacity Building
Plan.

She/he will work with the project team to implement project activities and
contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability and learning
processes.

The Project Officer will collaborate with the project team to explore and
enhance linkages/ networks that maximize impact of the project in terms of
improving the welfare of children by promoting positive and long-term family-
based care.

Job Responsibilities

> Conduct project field visits in collaboration with CIF stakeholders as required, escalate field challenges challenges to pilot coordinator (MCDSS and CRS)
> Provide timely and quality detailed field reports that will provide input into projects’ narrative reports
> Assist in maintenance of a schedule of all upcoming and required CIF pilot activities to ensure project objectives are met within given time frames
> Perform other functions as directed by his/her supervisor.

Qualifications

> Diploma/degree in Social work, development studies, or any other relevant qualifications suitable for this position
> Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
> Strong English skills required.
> Ability to work with database applications will be an added advantage
> Experience working within partnerships i.e Ministry of Community Development and social services and other line ministries and stake holders
