agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive.

prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within
walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve

ABOUT THE ROLE

One Acre Fund Zambia is looking for a Forestry Associate to lead our campaign
to support 360,000 smallholder farmers in Zambia to plant six million trees
and create $5,400,000 of farmer financial impact by 2025.

The Forestry Associate will oversee the success of this plan, with support
from the Global Agroforestry team.

You will report to the Zambia country director and will be mentored by the
Global Agroforestry Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build the Zambia agroforestry vision and strategy and drive operations to
achieve rapid scale

Farmer demand Rigorously assess farmer demand for multiple agroforestry
species

Trial design, mobilization and adoption design attractive packages and
coordinate with a tree field team to achieve targets

Multi-department risk assessment and mitigation Mitigate risks through
collaboration with Field Operations, Logistics, Business Operations, and
Inputs teams.

Tree Production and Logistics Trial multiple production/sourcing and
distribution methods for tree seedlings

Oversee the hiring of the field team, leading expansion into new areas,
building a performance management system, and more.

Maximize Impact of the tree program

Financial impact projections Develop tree impact models, work with M&E to
implement agroforestry impact assessments

Maximize farmer returns through training

QUALIFICATIONS

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this
role specifically, you will have

Experience leading complex projects

Project management skills and ability to “keep the trains running on time”
Systematic thinker, able to track many diverse tasks and plans.
Problem solving and creative solutions

Other requirements

Financial and data modeling skills – basic financial models and use data to
make decisions

University or advanced degree in agroforestry or a related field is preferred.

Familiarity with carbon markets and carbon finance is an added advantage.

Familiarity with impact measurement (e.g., randomized control trials) is
beneficial

High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite/Workplace (especially MS
excel (can perform complex functions) / Google Sheets) required.

2 years of experience developing strategy and building operations to grow in
rural, smallholder contexts.

English required
