BACKGROUND

The Non-governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council NGOCC is an
umbrella network for Non-Governmental and Community Based Organizations in
Zambia. The organization has been active in championing women’s empowerment
and gender equity and equality in Zambia since 1985. In over 30 years of its
existence, NGOCC has grown to be the focal point of the women’s movement in
Zambia, with a total membership of 103 as at the end of 2020 who are spread
across all the 10 provinces of Zambia and covering 64 districts.

In 2020, NGOCC signed an agreement with the European Union EU to implement
an action entitled “Promoting Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and
Rights.” In implementing this action, one of the key strategies NGOCC will be
using in its haste to champion women’s rights and participation in decision
making at household level, is to promote Household Approach Methodology among
the members of NGOCC and their projects’ beneficiaries, hence this assignment.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The assignment is to train Trainers of Trainers from NGOCC member
organizations in Household Approach Methodology – focusing on methods that
encourage household members wife and husband, women and men, youth, the
elderly and children to share division of labour equally and equitably and
make joint decisions about production and expenditures at household level.

The specific objectives would be

-->Improve NGOCC staff and those from member organizations, understanding of fundamentals of Household Approach Methodologies and their applicability.
-->Equip trainers with knowledge and skills to impart participatory behavioural change methodologies to beneficiaries for promoting joint decision-making in the household embracing different interests, priorities and roles of actors.

SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY OF CONSULTANCY

The entire consultancy will be for a period of twenty 20 working days. The
consultant will be expected to conduct a five 5 days training for Training
of Trainers of Trainers in Household Approach Methodology and develop a
training manual to be used by the Trainers of Trainers.

Expected Output/Deliverables

-->An inception report including Topics to be covered and methodology of delivery to be used in undertaking the task.
-->A PowerPoint presentation of the materials that will be shared during training and a training programme.
-->A final training report with recommendations to be agreed upon during the Household Approach Methodology Training Manual validation meeting.
-->Household Approach Methodology Training Manual to be used by Trainers of Trainers.

Composition, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE of the Consultant Team

-->Relevant qualifications and expertise in Organisational Capacity Building OCB especially in Women’s empowerment from the human rights approach with at least 7 years of experience in conducting similar capacity building programmes.
-->The consultant should also be abreast in Household Approach methodologies.
-->Application Procedures Applications consisting of;
-->A cover letter summarizing suitability and qualifications for this assignment with Company Profile.
-->List of relevant similar assignments or actual outputs from these assignments
-->Technical proposal with indicative work plan showing consultant’s planned approach to the assignment.
-->Cost proposal with proposed payment schedule for the given payment schedule.
-->Any other Support documents.
