Advert for Avencion Health System Strengthening Program

Name of Position Health System Strengthening HSS Analyst internship

Term of internship 6 months subject to extension to 11 months based on
performance

Location Western, Southern and Luapula Provinces

Program summary Avencion has created a Health System Strengthening HSS
Leadership Program dedicated to empowering Zambia’s young diverse
professionals who have interest in developing expertise in international
development and global public health sectors. This CDC, USAID, and PEPFAR-
funded HSS Leadership Program will fund six- to eleven-month internships for
approximately 200 young professionals over the life of the program. Applicants
selected for internships must successfully complete a 5-day pre-internship
training. Upon completion, participants will be placed at headquarters,
provincial or district health office, health facility or in community – and
will be eligible for a $150 USD monthly stipend. The monthly stipend is
intended to defray costs associated with housing and transportation to and
from the workplace and participation in required health leadership training
and activities. HSS Analysts are required to work five days per week and must
attend a Saturday leadership, management, communication, and technology skills
training activity two times per month. They will work closely and receive
mentorship from diverse professionals in the fields of health, business,
agriculture, technology, telecommunication, energy and transportation.

These future leaders will be placed, based on need, education, interest and
background; into positions across various segments of the international
development and health sector such as HIV/TB response, community-level data
utilization, alternative energy, shared service transportation, rural
development, ICT technical support , strategic information, health management
information systems, strategic planning, general management, monitoring and
evaluation, data analysis, health statistics and private sector engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

-->Must have a valid drivers license and at least two-years of experience driving must pass driving test
-->Graduate with a diploma, university or master degree in diverse fields
-->Computer skills MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
-->Interested in international development, global health, agriculture, community development, data utilization, data analysis, health system management, health technology, or health virtual interventions.
-->Desire to be a leader; accountability, passion, good character, integrity, ability to deliver tasks with minimal supervisions, organizing skills, team player and willingness to learn and adapt.
